Malaysia's Other Top Tourist Spots

Sabah is one of Malaysia's most popular destination spots for travelers. Sabah houses many breathtaking views and fun activities and events. Travelers can find both the history and old world attractions of Malaysia along with a more modern and live night life. Adventure seekers and individuals who love outdoor activities can enjoy the high views of Mount Kinabalu, the coral reefs, and the enchanting tropical rainforests.

Sabah is home to seven different national parks each with its own attractive qualities. The highest peak Mount Kinabalu, which is above sea level by approximately 4,093 meters can be found when visiting the Kinabalu National Park which has the status of UNESCO World Heritage. Mount Kinabalu takes hikers around three days to climb. There are mountain huts throughout the peak in which hikers can rest up. Throughout this three day journey climbers will see inviting streams, conifer forests, and a variety of different orchids and ferns. Among the orchids and ferns that can be seen on this peak include flora and fauna which have been around for hundreds and hundreds of years. Kinabalu National Park is 754 square kilometers full of interesting things to look at. Many of the other national parks found here are great spots to go diving; in fact they are some of the best in the world.

Borneo provides visitors with a lot of access to the land's wildlife. It is common that travelers will be able to see a variety of different species in one hike. Some of the caves found in the lowlands are home to the Sumatran rhinos which are extremely rare creatures along with orangutans. Along the peripheral of the trail hikers may see deer and giant sized squirrels. Some of the other top tourists areas found in Malaysia include: Tengku Tengah Zaharah, which is a Mosque, Heeren Street, the twin towers of Petronas, the cultural village of Sarawak, and the Sipadan Island.

The Tengku Tengah Zaharah is a floating mosque located at Teluk Ibai within Terengganu. This mosque is visited a lot by travelers seeking a better view of the lagoon of Sungai Ibai. Inside this mosque travelers will be able to find collections of Muslim artwork. Heeren Street is referred to by some as the street of First Class Gentlemen. This is one of Malacca's most popular streets housing modern styled two storey homes that also have beautiful terraces. This is a great street to visit if you are interested in seeing the architectural works of the Chinese, Europeans, and the Peranakans.

Among the tallest buildings found in the world are the Twin Towers of Petronas. The towers are made up of 88 glass and steel levels which bring there total height to an astonishing 452 meters high. The cultural village of Sarawak is a very popular living museum. The village features the different lifestyles of a variety of different racial groups. The land is composed of 17 acres where individuals reside and tourists can experience firsthand their different cultures and beliefs.

The Sipadan Island is home to such species as the mantas, the eagle rays, and the scalloped hammerhead sharks.
